UPS to start cargo flights to louisville USA                                                                      3/11/09

The air branch of united parcel service is to commence flights to the ups "worldport" in louisville kentucky using a DC8F aircraft, the aircraft used will be on a temporary basis, as UPS has taken the aircraft out of retierment, it is expected to be replaced by either a boeing 767 or MD11 in the future. 

TNT to start flights Liege                                                                                                       3/11/09

TNT are to start flights to the city of liege in belgium, using a 737 quick change aircraft, the aircraft will be mainly used for cargo flights but will also fly a passenger flight 2 out of 7 days each week, the aircraft will also be able to be chartered out as a passenger aircraft. 

Rossiya starts links to 2 major russian cities                                                                  2/11/09 

Rossiya ailines of russia are to start flights to both saint petersburg and moscow using a IL-62 aircraft, flights will start next week, this comes as city of newcastles first russian passenger service, with aeroflot already in talks about starting services to moscow.

A little piece of america comes to the CNI departure lounge                                      6/8/09

A part of City of newcastle intl airports departure lounge now has a more american feel to it after work was completed on the small complex on the widebody aircraft side of the terminal, the complex which is home to a budwiser tap room, a dennys diner, american duty free store (selling american styled merchandise such as american football shirts) and american food and drink store selling light refresments such as crispy cream dohnuts and mountain dew sodas. the area will stay open all year round and the airport is currently planning more of these themed outlets if the planned expansion goes ahead.

BME-CMA-CNI wish to announce the new BMN airport endorsment scheme      1/8/09   

The BME-CMA-CNI Airport partnership is pleased to announce there new scheme to help get new airports up and running in the best possible way, the scheme will work in a similar way as the popular UK television show "dragons den" works, the applicant will email the airport partnership using the new partnership contact email address bme_cma_cni@yahoo.co.uk with details of the airport that they wish to apply for the scheme, the partnership will then review the application and if chosen the partnership will endorse the chosen airport, full details of this can be found on a specific page that will be created for the scheme very soon.

As you may be aware there have been 2 terrorist attacks in spain over the past few days, the most recent of which on the island of palma de mallorca, therefore spanish authorities have closed both airports and sea crossing going from and to the island, therefore all flights in and out bound from CNI have been delayed for a un forseen amount of time, we will keep you updated on this, for more individual info please contact your tour operator. 

CMA join CNI-BME partnership                                                                                             29/7/09

City of manchester airport has joined the partnership that was already formed between CNI and BME, this means that flights will now start with bmibaby from CNI to CMA, the flight arriving at CNI around 14.45 local time, it also means that all 3 airprots will be working together to help improve the passenger expirience.

BMIs low cost subsidary BMI bady are to start flights to city of manchester airport as part of the airport being included into the BME-CNI partnership, discussions of the details of this are still in progress but it is highly likley that the partnerhip will change to CNI-BME-CMA very soon. 

BMI start long haul services from CNI                                                                                 27/7/09

BMI have stated fligths today using a airbus A330, these flights will be long haul operations flying to new york newark, orlando and las vegas.

British airways adds aircraft to its base here at CNI                                                          3/7/09

CNIs largest carrier BA has added a further boeing 767-300 aircraft to its base at CNI, the aircraft will fly mainly on transatlantic flights to the east coast of america, with BA announcing the new destination of tampa florida, which will run weekly using a boeing 767. 

New airlines and aircraft to start flights from CNI                                                             24/5/09

Air berlin and mexicana are both planning to start flights from CNI, Air berlin will be operating a commuter service twice a day to Dusseldorf with a dash 8 and mexicana will operate flights to mexico city and cancuan (summer only) with a A330-200, Mean while CNIs largest american operator delta/northwest airlines are to add 2 more aicraft to their focuscity base at CNI, both are airbus A330, one is a 300 series that will be re-shceduled to operate high capacity flights to orlando and the other is a 200 series that will mainly fly to NWAs base at detroit.

City of newcastle intl`s offical busiest route is named                                                      1/6/09

The city of Orlando in the USA state of florida has been officaly named today as CNIs busiest route in terms of both airlines/aircraft flying the route and passenger numbers, both orlando international and orlando sanford airpors are flown to from airlines at CNI, airlines that fly these are british airways, virgin atlantic, monarch, thomas cook, delta and continental, on average there are 3 flights a day to both KSFB and KMCO, a represenative of CNI said that "we are happy that flights to the wonderful city are doing well, and we belive that this is due to all round good weather, the theme parks and excellent tourist availbilty in the city", closley following orlando in the table where palma de mallorca, paris, new york and london.

Continental announce new route                                                                                         26/5/09

US major continental airlines is to start weekley flights to orlando, the flight will depart on a saturaday morning and will use a boeing 787 aircraft, the route is to fly during summer months, however if it proves popular continental say it may also continue in the winter months. 

New BA,KLM and Alitalia aircraft start flights to/from CNI today                                  22/5/09

3 new aircraft all arrived at CNI today, a alitalia boeing 767, which will operate flights to rome 4 days a week, a boeing 737 from KLM which will boost capacity on the schipol route alongside the F100 and a boeing 747 from british airways that will open a new las vegas route from CNI, the aircraft is also sporting the "oneworld" titles that promote BAs alliance.

 

Additional BAE 146 for british airways arrives at CNI                                                     21/5/09

British airways, city of newcastles largest airline has boosted capacity on its regional and business flights withj the addition of a BAE146 to its fleet based at CNI, the aircraft is the second of the type to be based here and will boost BAs capacity to london city from 2 flights perday to 3, it will also increase capacity on the brussels routes and both birmigham and aberdeen flights will start using the aircraft. 

New FedEx 757F arrives at CNI                                                                                             11/5/09

a boeing 757 freighter from fedex express has arrived at CNI the aircraft will be based at the airport with the A310, the aircraft will add capacity to the new york newayrk flight and also opperate flights to europe. 

city of newcastle enters summer season                                                                                     4-5-09

Cni is now in its busiest time of year, this summer we will be starting our airport expansion work, plans of which will be published soon, we will also as always be adding services and unfortunatley loosing some, talks with lufthansa over the viability of its long haul A380 flights are not looking good but we are discussing short haul european services. 

Also CNIs largest carrier british airways is looking to expand even more, with plans to use the A380 aircraft based at CNI for flights to orlando from may 9th, aswell as this both monarch and thomas cook are adding 2 weekley flights to orlando sanford, brining monarch to 4 flights a week and thomas cook to 3. 

Thomson airways are also expanding at the airport, they have based a 737 in a brittania retro livery to celebrate the offical renaming of thomsonfly to thomson airways, all flights will remain the same and there is no need to worry about bookings

We are also in the final stages of comfirming services from italian airline alitalia with a boeing 767 to a unnamed destination in italy and also KLM are close to adding a boeing 737-700 to boost capacity on the schipol flight. aswell as this delta, CNIs largest carrier outside of the uk are looking at basing a boeing 777/767 at the airport and transaero are also looking at starting flights to moscow with a 772.
